Friend Card

A friend of mine lives in Qatar, and I rarely get to see her. She was married last year, and came home over the summer for a vacation. Her family threw a reception for her and her new husband and I went to the party and finally got to meet the new man in her life. It had been years since we had seen each other, but it felt like days. Now her father and his sweetie are going to visit them, and they wanted to bring a present. So I get a call to gather some Epicure Selections products. I decided to send a card with a note to my friend and this is the card I came up with. Amie gave me some stencils for Christmas and I used one of them on this 3½x6" card. I used my MM Slice to cut the word "Friends" with shadowing. And embellished with some dew drops. The card is much nicer in real life!

Christmas 2009

I'm making no apologies for my absence. Let's just say life got in the way and leave it at that!

This was my favourite card I made for Christmas this year. When I said in my last post that I was going to get a jump on Christmas, I did to a certain extent. I did manage to make about 30 cards by October - major accomplishment! But this card was made the week before Christmas!!! I love it's simplicity. If you like clean-and-simple card, check out this blog. Susan's work has completely inspired me and caused me to change my style of cardmaking! In any case, I did 3 designs of Christmas cards (but managed to photograph only 1) and all 3 designs were single layer cards! Love it! This card was made with a combination of Stampin' Up stamps and some other unnamed ones from my inheritance! The die cut is a Stampin' Up Sizzlet.

Christmas in August?

I am getting a jump on Christmas this year... at least my Christmas cards. I'll never get a jump on my Christmas shopping! lol I have been thinking about what I should do for this year's card and realized that I didn't post last years card. My inspiration came from Splitcoast Stampers, of course! It's using the Stampin' Up set "Lovely as a Tree". I didn't think I would like that set at first, but turns out I was wrong! Love it!

So I have offered to do a "Stamp-a-Stack" class at the Military Family Resource centre and I am thinking this may be one of the cards we will do. It looks much more difficult than it really is. I just need to take a trip to St. John's and get the supplies. Turns out we are going in this weekend for the John Prine concert, so that works out nicely.
The other card I am contem- plating is this red ornament card. But I don't know if I want to do something that uses the same techniques, so I am unsure. Any thoughts?

So yesterday I started a Facebook group to try and get together some paper crafters in Gander. I would love to have a club of sorts so that we can exchange ideas, share tools and just get together for a laugh or two! We'll see what falls out of that!

Oh well, gotta get back to my real job! :~)

We had another wedding to attend this summer and it was phenominal! Pete's neice, Amanda, wanted to be married down south. But many of the friends and family she wanted to attend couldn't make it. So she brought "down south" home! Have a look at these pics. How cool is that??? The wedding was on a Thursday night, and it was very simple and elegant. I wanted my card to convey the simple and elegant theme so I chose to make a white card. I love the way it turned out. Of course, it looks much better in person!

Check out this simple card!

My friend and stamping buddy is having another birthday this year... what's up with that! lol Marg and I are good friends, and we always make cards for each other. Now that we've started, I don't know how we will stop. Here is this year's card inspired by Lateblossom. I love her work, the name of her blog rings true in all her work. Don't be surprised if my Christmas cards this year follow this theme!

Today I am going to attempt to dig out my craft/Guiding/place to put things when it has to home room. Sigh. Wish me luck.

Wedding card

6 months without a post! Ughh. That's it... I'm taking more time to do the things I love. And that means more papercrafting!

This is a wedding card for a friend of mine that lives in Qatar, and was recently married over there. She and her husband are home now for a vacation and they are having a wedding reception in a couple of days. I can't wait to see her again, I haven't seen her in years!

Scrapping again...

Yesterday's storm was the kick in the pants I needed to do some scrap- booking again. And even though I only completed 1 page, it was rejuvenating! I haven't done any scrapbooking since Shaelin was born, so this is the beginning! I have tons of pictures to scrap, it's going to be fun!

The paper used here was some I bought at the Creative Crop Shoppe before it closed. I really miss that place, not for the products but for our regular Thursday night crops. If anyone wants to get something on the go here in Gander, count me in. Anyway, the paper is Wild Asparagus, I believe. I punched the letters using my Cuttlebug and the Hippy Chick letter dies. The flower is dollar store variety, as is the ribbon. The colours are a little washy, I am using a new camera and I don't have it all figured out yet.

I think I may use this layout when I do a Scrapbooking course for the Military Family Resource Centre. The layout is from http://www.pagemaps.com. I wanted to use a layout so that newbies can see how easy it is to adapt a sketch to their pictures and accessories. I think I succeeded with this one!
